Tell us about your business, how long has it been running and what’s the story behind it?
Ünlü Tekstil is one of the biggest woven garment manufacturer from Turkey since 1992. Ünlü Tekstil is based in Istanbul, where it has some 26.000 square meters of high-tech production space. With a capacity of 300.000-450.000 pieces of quality clothing monthly, offering a wide variety of woven jackets, trousers, blouses, dresses, coats etc.

Do you have your own design department, if so, where do you get the inspiration for your designs from?
Yes, Ünlü Tekstil is not only a qualified garment manufacturer, we can provide your whole collection from start to finish.

Do you find that brands and retailers are increasingly looking for design input from their manufacturing partners?
They do. Brands/Retailers are asking more often for capsule collections. Our brands are our partners; we know each other very well. Using the newest trends, with their brand image in mind we create capsule collections on request.

What design trends have you seen coming over the past two or three seasons, and what trends do you expect to see over the coming seasons?
It’s all about sustainability. Every colour, fabric or even the way we work.

Do you have a particular manufacturing niche which sets you apart? How do you set yourselves apart from other manufacturers?
All our lines are capable to make every single type of woven garments. We believe in zero-defect manufacturing.

Have there been any new technological developments that you have introduced into your manufacturing processes? Do you think there will ever come a time where manufacturing is fully automated or it is the human input that makes the quality differences?
We are continuously investing on new technology and automation. Efficiency is the key of a successful process. Our focus: ‘From CONTROL-ORIENTED to QUALITY-ORIENTED production’.

What advice would you give sourcing professionals looking for a manufacturer? What should they look for, and what questions should they be asking?
What is your absolute must, think of type of services you need? The best way is looking at the brand/retailers they work with. What are you asking for and what can the manufacturer offers you?

How can manufacturers and sourcing professionals improve their relationships?
Knowing the advantages and skills of each other, while keeping the whole process transparent.

Are ethical and sustainable credentials more important today? Is this something where buyers are becoming more demanding on these issues?
We are SEDEX & BSCI approved. Also we are offering fully organic production, which means: Organic Production Lines and Organic Certification of Models After Production.
