AthLeisure – Spotlight on the current big trend!
What started out as a fad has, over the past few years, become the largest and fastest growth sector for many brands and retailers on the high street and on line. Fashion focused sportswear, from yoga pants to gym wear to casual sports clothing, is now equally at home in the pub as on the track or in the studio. And this is a trend that looks certain to continue; 2016 saw UK brands generate over GBP5.1bn in AthLeisure revenues, and 2017/18 spend is set to rise further, particularly with the increased trend in celebrity sports associations like Rita Ora for Addidas and Beyonce for TopShop. Whatever the reason behind it, Olympics euphoria, celebrity association, sportswear comfort and whatever your brand size or philosophy, ignore AthLeisure to your detriment! Managing Technical textiles and AthLeisure design and manufacturing are also a particular skill set which some of the companies exhibiting at Fashion SVP excel at.
Don’t miss this chance to see exactly the sort of on trend, brilliantly designed and manufactured garments that are on display at the show. All of the manufacturers will be there and happy to talk about how they can help you realise your future AlthLeisure collections!

New Designer Awards in association with Fashion Enter / Fashion Capital and Finery
Launched just this year the New Designer Awards has been developed in recognition of commercial design excellence within the fashion industry.
The award is presented with the aim of supporting the future development of apparel manufacturing, the professional skills we want to continue to grow and nurture, and offers all applicants an opportunity to enhance their own profile and professional standing. This curated display will feature the top 3 designs, as determined by the professional judging panel, and the overall winner will be announced at the show on 27th June. These top 3 designs will be made up by one of our Award sponsors; Fashion Enter is a not for profit social enterprise and centre of excellence for sampling, grading, production and skills development within the fashion and textiles industry.
Another sponsor, and provider of a key part of the winners prize, is Finery; a London-based brand with a rich cultural interest and attitude. They are a thinking woman’s fashion label; built by and for women of character, who are both interested and interesting. They are driven by a desire to create clothes that are made with love and care, and want women to be re-inspired by the British high-street.
So, be inspired yourself, and make sure that you take a look at the future of commercial design today!
